Future Boy Conan
I would say it's the best "animated anything" of all time, but to avoid excessive hyperbole I reluctantly confine myself to "Japanese anime TV series". This is one of Hayao Miyazaki's earlier projects (by no means earliest), and yet it is his best... All in all, what Miyazaki achieved with this series is the equivalent of replicating the Mona Lisa using nothing but crayons.xoraxora (IMDB)
Welcome to Remnant Island!
Here you can find links to all the episodes of Future Boy Conan (©Nippon Animation 1978) with fan-made English subtitles and scripts for any translations missing from the subtitles, notably Episode 20. Although the series is still little-known in the US, that speaks only to its unavailability in English. Future Boy Conan is touching, clever, powerful, a testament to Miyazaki's artistry and a suprise favorite among his works. It's well worth the effort of reading fan-made subtitles of a low-resolution online copy released in Italian, dubbed into Japanese, and placed on Russian video-sharing site with protection against downloading. What I wouldn't pay to purchase it in Blu-ray... one day.
For now, fan subs are all we've got. Please enjoy! And check out the reviews on IMDB for stories from others whose lives have been changed by this brilliant and adorable series.
